http://apps.nrpa.org/store/images/products/webinar.jpg
Description: Join us as Paul Gilbert, Executive Director of NOVA Parks, Anthony-Paul (AP) Diaz, Executive Officer and Chief of Staff, and Jimmy Kim, Superintendent of Recreation and Parks Operations, Emergency Management and Aquatics Division for Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks discuss continuity plans as part of park and recreation agencies' emergency response to unforeseen challenges such as the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. You'll learn about the importance of continuity plans, what official sources should be consulted to provide guidance on communications and best practices, how to deal with childcare for first responders and healthcare workers and more. Park and recreation professionals must adapt quickly in situations like these, and the same principles used when planning for continuity and emergency response during the COVID-19 pandemic can also be applied to other critical events such as snowstorms or natural disasters.

http://apps.nrpa.org/store/images/products/PremierMbrBenefit.png
Description: This webinar focuses on how park and recreation professionals can partner with local shelters to successfully identify, process, hire and supervise people in their community experiencing homelessness. In Boise, Idaho, the parks and recreation department hires individuals from the Interfaith Sanctuary shelter. This groundbreaking work program, now entering its third year, has been very successful with numerous participants graduating into seasonal roles with the department. Former Interfaith Sanctuary guests have moved into their own apartments and purchased homes and vehicles as a result of the opportunity provided through the program. Doug Holloway, director of Boise Parks and Recreation, outlines how you can start a similar program while discussing some of the challenges and success stories that have made this program a model for other cities across the country.
